The original Kel Print was started in 1961 in England as a home-based business with the main product being tickets for the agricultural producers near where she lived in Bedford.

The tickets were produced by the old method of typesetting and ink and using a hand-press. The small cutter that was purchased at that time is still in use by Kel Print.

In 1979 Janice and husband Bill emigrated from England to Canada, coming straight to Robson and remaining in the area to this day. Once again Kel Print was a home business, carried on in the basement until an office was sought in Castlegar. The little letterpress and cutter was utilized until the business grew enough to progress toward a more modern style of reproduction, namely copy machines etc., along with the sale of stationery.

Kel Print's first job in Canada was publishing and printing "The Free Ferry Advertiser", distributed by mail to Castlegar and Robson homes.

Kel Print is now co-owned by Eileen Babaeff and managed by her daughter Katrina.

Janice has retired from active participation in Kel Print, but Castlegar Ink Spot is a new venture. Janice has come full circle, starting as a home business owner and finishing up as one and looks forward to serving Castlegar and area for a few more years.
